"Fortune"
was Senior Champion Bull at the '99 Medicine
Hat Bull Sale after being used as a yearling
in the Ebon Hill herd. At $8,500 he was
the high selling two year old of the sale. Sired
by Minerts Fortune 2000, he is a paternal
brother to the widely used "Fame", the
sire of the 2000 Denver Grand Champion bull.
Fortune
2000's most recent EPD's indicate
BW +1.9, WW +42, YW +77, Milk +15, SC +.55 all with a .99 accuracy.
Hard to beat that!
We
used "Fortune" on 37 cows in the spring
of 1999 and were most impressed with his agility and
maintenance of flesh. He looked better
after breeding 37 cows than when we bought him
at the bull sale. He's a breeding bull.
"Fortune's"
first calf crop at Benchmark gave us 16
bull calves that weaned with an average birth
weight of 84 lbs. and an average 205 day weight
of 698 lbs. These calves are the right
kind - thick and deep with some middle and great
hair.
"Fortune's" dam is by the immortal Belvin Black
Magic 42'92. She was the 1996 Interbreed Supreme
Champion Heifer at the Chinook Classic. Four
120'97 daughters at Benchmark averaged $4050
including sales to Scott Anderson and Clinton
Morasch. She is the dam of Ebon Hill's high selling
bred heifer at Black Magic 1999 bringing $8,250
to Ireland. Kenalta Erica 43'88 comes from my
brother's dispersal sale tracing to such greats
as Kenalta Merit, Harmon Recoil, Blackcoat of
Alcan Angus and Coalbridge Marshall 15th. Bred
in the purple I'd say! |
